2016 RIO – Street Protests & Criminal Activity, Days Before the Summer Olympics.


On 1 August 2016, RIO OSINT research revealed recent street protests being conducted in Brazilian cities of Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo. These were political demonstrations against the Brazilian government.  Gang riots were initiated in the northern Brazilian city of Natal.  There has been overt ISIS cyber activity and local ISIS arrests in Brazil.  These incidents all within a week from the start of the 2016 Summer Olympics.  The Olympic venue threat levels remain medium.  We are monitoring this political and social unrest for Olympic venue situational awareness, sponsor and readership.
